Our
Mandate is to discuss population health risks emerging from each of the health determinants as well as their interactions. Population health risks to be examined will be selected on the basis of potential population health impact and timeliness. Risk issues that will be considered include: biology and genetic endowment, environment and occupational, and social and behavioural.
Our Vision is to become the preferred source of information and commentary on health risk issues and interpretation of risk information for general researchers, individuals, journalists and public-interest groups.
Specific objectives of RISKcom are listed below:
- To identify genetic, environmental, and social risk issues of importance to the health of populations
- To provide estimates of the relative magnitudes of population health risks.
- To examine differences in perceived and actual risks.
- To provide information on how population health risks can be addressed
